Kayla Lucero-Matteucci

In the Office of Resiliency, Kayla promotes Arizona as a competitive destination for investments that foster innovative energy solutions and a resilient economy. Kayla’s decade of experience as a public policy researcher and advisor spans domestic and international work across science and technology, national security, and economic development. Previously, Kayla was New Mexico’s inaugural advisor on the economic implications of the energy transition, overseeing the statewide economic plan and spearheading the state’s interagency Sustainable Economy Task Force. Kayla received the Carnegie Endowment James C. Gaither Fellowship, U.S.-U.K. Fulbright Scholarship, and Marshall Scholarship. The latter fully funded her graduate studies at Cambridge University (MPhil in Politics and International Studies) and University of East Anglia (MSc in Climate Change and International Development). Kayla holds a BA from Fordham University in New York City.
Kayla is from the unceded Southern Tiwa territories of Albuquerque and Placitas, New Mexico. Through her maternal lineage, she is a member of the San Antonio de las Huertas Land Grant, a proud acequia community deeply rooted in communal land and water management. She enjoys playing jazz and blues keyboard and spending time with her partner and their dog, Calypso.
